The original PAX Mini had one automatic heat mode and nothing to set, which was the whole idea and also the main complaint. This one keeps the size and fixes the complaint: four heat modes, and a larger oven that works with two different pack sizes rather than one.
Both lids come in the box, which is the practical version of that. The standard oven lid gives you the full load and the half oven lid fills the space above a smaller one, so a solo session still packs properly against the oven floor instead of drawing thin. On the first generation Mini the half lid was not an option at all, so this is a genuine change rather than a spec sheet line.
At 89 grams it is still the lightest device PAX make, and it is the one that actually disappears in a pocket. The trade against a PAX 3 or a Plus is a smaller oven and no concentrate insert, and against the Four it is vapour output. What you get back is something you will carry.
Charging uses PAX's magnetic cable rather than USB-C. Warranty is two years and registering the device within 30 days adds a third, which is worth doing on the day it arrives.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the original PAX Mini?
Two real changes. The original had a single automatic heat mode with nothing to select, and this one has four heat modes. And the oven is larger, supporting two pack sizes, with both the standard and the half oven lid in the box where the first generation Mini could not use a half lid at all. If you are reading a review that describes one fixed mode, that is the older device.
Which oven lid should I use?
The standard lid for a full load, the half lid when you want less. The half lid is not just a smaller opening, it fills the space above a reduced load so the material still presses against the oven floor. Conduction heats by contact, so a loose pack in a big oven draws thin and tastes weak. Using the right lid for the amount you load makes more difference than most people expect.
Can I use concentrates in the PAX Mini 2?
No. The concentrate insert is a PAX 3 and PAX Plus accessory and the Mini does not take it. This is a flower device. If you want one device for both, the PAX 3 Complete Kit includes the insert and the PAX Plus accepts it as a separate purchase. The Mini trades that flexibility for being the smallest and lightest thing PAX make.
Does it use the same charger as my old PAX?
It uses the PAX magnetic charging cable, which is the same style the PAX 2, PAX 3 and PAX Plus use rather than the USB-C on the newer Flow. The cable is in the box. If you already own an older PAX, that is one less thing to carry when you travel with both. The Flow and Four are the two that need USB-C instead.
Can I bring the PAX Mini 2 on a flight?
Pack it in your carry-on. Transport Canada do not allow lithium battery devices in checked baggage, since an accidental activation in the hold cannot be dealt with. The Mini is small enough that the real risk is forgetting it is in a bag you meant to check. Take the magnetic charging cable with you rather than packing it separately, empty and brush the oven before you go, and keep in mind that what you carry in it is governed separately.
What is the quickest way to get one in Vancouver?
Order it between 8 AM and 10 PM and same-day delivery covers Greater Vancouver, usually inside 45 to 60 minutes. After 10 PM it ships the next day. Being small, it is an easy thing to add to a bigger order, and we send it Canada-wide in discreet packaging if you are outside the zone.
