Arizer

Grind your dry herb, then fill the glass stem, which Arizer calls the aroma tube, and twist it into the heater. Turn the device on, set your temperature or pick a preset, and give it a moment to heat up. Then draw slowly and steadily straight from the glass mouthpiece. Because the whole path is glass, the flavour comes through clean. Gentle, longer pulls work better than short hard ones. The same basic steps cover the Solo, Solo 2, Solo 3, ArGo and the Air line.

The V-Tower, Extreme Q and XQ2 plug into the wall, so there is no battery to charge. Load ground herb into the ceramic Cyclone Bowl, set your temperature, and let it come up to heat. On the V-Tower you draw through the glass whip. The Extreme Q and XQ2 give you a choice: draw through the whip, or switch on the fan and let it fill a balloon-style bag that you detach and pass around. Both come with a remote, so you can adjust the temperature from the couch.

They are two ways to get the vapour out of the same machine. The whip is a length of tubing with a glass mouthpiece you draw from directly, so you control each pull. The balloon, or bag, is filled by the built-in fan and then detaches, so the vapour is ready to pass around without anyone holding a hose. The Extreme Q and XQ2 do both, while the V-Tower is whip only. The whip suits a solo session and the bag suits sharing.

On the newer Solo models, Session mode heats the whole bowl and holds the temperature for a set time, so you can take a run of draws, which is the classic way these work. On-Demand mode only heats while you are actually drawing, so it warms the herb hit by hit instead of all at once. On-Demand tends to stretch a bowl further and is handy for a quick one, while Session is better for a longer sit-down. The Solo 3 lets you switch between the two.

Most Arizers let you set the temperature to the exact degree, while the original Solo and the Air SE use a handful of presets. Lower temperatures, around 180 to 190°C, give you the most flavour and a lighter draw. Higher up, closer to 200 to 215°C, you get thicker vapour and pull more from the herb. Starting low and working up over a bowl is a good way to get both. Arizer leans toward flavour, so you do not need to run it hot.

The glass parts are the easy bit. Soak the glass stem or the whip mouthpiece in isopropyl alcohol, then rinse and let it dry, and it comes up like new. Brush loose herb out of the bowl or heater once it is cool, and swap the screen if it gets clogged. On the desktops, the whip and the elbow adapter come apart for the same soak. Keeping the glass and screens clean is most of what keeps an Arizer tasting right.

It depends on the model and your temperature, but the useful thing across the Air line and the ArGo is that the battery is removable, so you can carry a charged spare and keep going. The Air SE and Air 2 take an 18650, the Air Max a larger 26650 for long days, and the ArGo an 18350. The Solo models use a bigger built-in battery instead, and the newer ones charge over USB-C. Desktops just plug into the wall, so battery life is not a concern there.
