A grinder breaks dry herb into an even, fluffy consistency so it burns slower and smoother than hand-broken bud. Metal grinders last longest and grip best; a four-piece adds a kief catch underneath. It is the one accessory most people say they should have bought sooner.

Rolling trays and papers

A rolling tray keeps everything in one place and catches the loose bits. Papers come in sizes (king size, 1 1/4) and materials (hemp, rice, wood pulp); thinner papers burn cleaner and let the flavour through. Match the paper size to how much you roll.

Lighters and storage

A soft-flame lighter is fine for papers; a torch is for dabs and concentrates. Airtight storage like glass jars or smell-proof bags keeps herb fresh and the smell down. Small upgrades, but they keep things tidy and discreet.
