Grind your dry herb, then fill the ceramic oven and press it down lightly so it is packed but not crammed. Put the mouthpiece back on, hold the power button to turn it on, and either set an exact temperature or pick one of the Smart Paths. It heats by conduction and is ready in well under a minute, then you draw slowly. Slower, steady pulls give you better flavour and vapour than short hard ones. The same steps cover the IQ, IQC, IQ2 and IQ3.

You can set any temperature up to about 221°C, which is roughly 430°F. Lower settings, around 180 to 190°C, give you more flavour and a lighter draw, while higher settings closer to 210 to 221°C produce thicker vapour and pull more from the herb. If you would rather not manage it, the four Smart Paths step the heat up through a session on their own. A lot of people start low and let it climb.

The flavour chamber is a small zirconia space in the mouthpiece, and you can pack it with a pinch of dried herb or a botanical like mint or citrus peel. The vapour passes through it on the way out and picks up that aroma, so it shapes the taste rather than adding to the effect. You can also leave it empty if you would rather keep things plain. It is one of the features people ask about most with DaVinci.

Let it cool, empty the oven and brush out the loose bits. The pearl, the flat mouthpiece and the flavour chamber come apart, so you can wipe them with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol, and DaVinci includes a pick tool for the tighter spots. Let everything dry before you put it back together. Cleaning it every few sessions keeps the air path clear and the flavour tasting clean, which is the whole point of the zirconia path.

The battery is removable on every IQ, which is the useful part: you can swap in a charged spare instead of waiting. How long a charge lasts depends on your temperature and how often you draw, but the removable cell means you are never stuck waiting to keep going.
