The Vane 2 keeps the thing that made the original worth buying and improves the parts around it. You still set an exact temperature anywhere between 200 and 480°F with plus and minus buttons rather than cycling presets, which on dry herb is the difference between a flavourful draw and a harsh one.
What changes is the hardware. The battery goes from 1100 to 1200 mAh, and the small monochrome OLED becomes a colour LCD showing temperature and battery level, which is easier to read at a glance. The body was redrawn with straighter lines and less ornament.
Heating is still conduction into a ceramic chamber, so the herb sits against the hot surface rather than having hot air pulled through it. Give the load a stir partway through a session and it toasts far more evenly.
The mouthpiece is magnetic and pulls straight off for loading and cleaning. One thing to know before you buy spares: the Vane 2 mouthpiece is a different part from the original Vane's, so a replacement bought for the older model will not fit. We currently stock the original's only.
If you have not used a dry herb vaporizer before, start around 375°F and work up.

Frequently asked questions
What is actually different from the original Vane?
Three things: the battery goes from 1100 to 1200 mAh, the monochrome OLED becomes a colour LCD that is easier to read, and the body was redesigned with straighter lines. The part that matters most is unchanged, namely setting an exact temperature from 200 to 480°F rather than cycling fixed presets. The heating is still ceramic conduction.
Will my original Vane mouthpiece fit it?
No. Yocan sell a separate Vane 2 mouthpiece as its own product, so the two generations do not share the part despite both being magnetic. We currently stock the original Vane's mouthpiece only, so if you need a Vane 2 spare, check which generation a listing is for before ordering. It is an easy mistake to make.
What temperature should I start at?
Around 375°F if you are new to dry herb. That is usually warm enough for a smooth, flavourful draw without pushing the herb towards scorching. Below that, in the 350s, you get more taste and less vapour. Up towards 430 and beyond the draws get thicker but harsher. Move in small steps and stop where it tastes right.
Is it convection or conduction?
Conduction. The herb rests against a heated ceramic chamber rather than having hot air drawn through it, which is why it heats quickly and stays this compact. The practical consequence is that you should stir the load partway through a session, otherwise the material touching the chamber wall vaporizes well before the rest of it does.
How do I keep it working properly?
Brush the chamber out while it is still slightly warm, using the brush in the box, because residue lifts much more easily then than once it has cooled. Do not pack the chamber tightly. The magnetic mouthpiece pulls off completely, so you can reach the chamber properly rather than working around a fixed part.
Is the Vane 2 available for same-day delivery in Vancouver?
