The Evolve Plus is the pen most people mean when they say Yocan, and it has stayed in the range this long because it solved a practical problem rather than a technical one. The base of the battery unscrews into a silicone jar. Your concentrate travels with the pen, so there is no second container to lose and no tin rolling around in a bag.
Under the cap is Yocan's quartz dual coil: two quartz rods wrapped in wire, which heat quickly and, because quartz is inert, keep the flavour cleaner than a coil sitting in ceramic or cotton. The pen also takes Yocan's ceramic donut coil if you prefer a slower, lower heat that is gentler on the concentrate. Both are 510 threaded and both are a few seconds to swap.
Operation is one button. Five clicks on, hold to heat, and there is a threaded coil cap under the mouthpiece that keeps a warm load where it belongs rather than in the airway.
At 1100 mAh it holds up to genuinely regular use, and it charges over Micro-USB rather than USB-C, which is worth knowing before you throw out the old cables. If you want more coil surface and airflow control, the Evolve Plus XL is the larger version of the same idea.

Frequently asked questions
What is the jar in the bottom of the battery?
The base unscrews into a small silicone container for your concentrate. Silicone is used because wax does not stick to it the way it sticks to glass or metal, so you can actually get the last of a load out. It means the pen and what you are putting in it travel as one object, which is the main reason people keep buying this particular model.
What is the difference between the quartz dual coil and the ceramic donut coil?
The QDC is two quartz rods wrapped in wire. It heats fast, hits hard and gives a clean taste because quartz is inert. The ceramic donut is a ring of ceramic that heats more slowly and more evenly, which is easier on the concentrate and on your throat but produces less vapour per draw. Both fit the same pen, so it is worth trying each.
How often do I need to change the coil?
There is no fixed schedule, because it depends on how hot you run it and what you put through it. The signs are consistent though: a burnt or scorched taste that does not clear, visible blackening on the quartz, or weak output on a full battery. When that happens the coil is spent rather than the pen. We stock both coil types in five packs.
Evolve Plus or Evolve Plus XL?
The XL is the bigger version of the same idea. It steps up to 1400 mAh, swaps the two quartz rods for four, adds an adjustable airflow valve and a magnetic mouthpiece connection, and splits the base jar into two compartments. The Evolve Plus is smaller, cheaper and easier to carry. If you want a bigger draw and airflow control, go XL.
Does it charge with USB-C?
No. The Evolve Plus charges over Micro-USB, which dates it against newer pens in the range. A cable is in the box, and Micro-USB cables are still easy to come by, but it is a genuine inconvenience if everything else you own has moved to USB-C. The Falcon is the model in the Yocan line-up that made the switch.
