The Flow is the first PAX that stops being purely conduction. It runs a hybrid heater that blends conduction and convection, so some of the heat comes from the oven walls and some from air drawn across the load. In practice that is what the widened airpath is for as well: the draw is noticeably easier than a PAX 3, and the vapour arrives without you having to pull hard for it.
Five heat modes, with real time temperature control adjusting as you draw rather than holding one number regardless. Four of those are the standard modes and the fifth is Bong Mode, which exists for use with the PAX Water Pipe Adapter and runs the device harder because a water pipe cools everything on the way through.
The oven door is the other real change. It is mounted on the side and it detaches completely, which sounds like a small thing until you have tried to clean a vaporizer whose oven you cannot get into properly. It also makes loading a 0.40 g oven straightforward rather than fiddly.
Charging is USB-C and PAX quote a full charge in under 40 minutes, which is the fastest in their range by a distance. The warranty is two years, and registering the device within 30 days of buying it adds another two. Worth doing on the day it arrives, because two extra years for filling in a form is a good trade.

How is the PAX Flow different from the PAX 3 or PAX Plus?
Three things. The Flow uses a hybrid heater that mixes conduction and convection where the older devices are conduction only, the airpath is widened so the draw takes less effort, and the side oven door detaches completely for cleaning. It also charges over USB-C in under 40 minutes rather than sitting on a magnetic dock. The oven is slightly smaller at 0.40 g.
What is Bong Mode for?
It is the fifth heat mode and it is meant for use with the PAX Water Pipe Adapter. Running a vaporizer through water cools the vapour a lot, so a normal setting can end up feeling thin by the time it reaches you. Bong Mode compensates by running the device harder. Using it without a water pipe attached will be hotter than you want.
How long does the PAX Flow take to charge?
PAX quote 100 percent in under 40 minutes over USB-C, which is the quickest in their lineup. A charging dock is available separately if you would rather it live on a desk than plug in by cable. Note that the Flow uses USB-C, not the magnetic charger that the PAX 2, 3, Mini and Plus share, so an older PAX charger will not work with it.
Do PAX 3 accessories fit the Flow?
No, and this is the one to be careful about. The Flow has its own mouthpieces, its own oven screens and its own charging dock, because the body and oven were redesigned. Is the PAX Flow allowed on a plane?
In carry-on only. Transport Canada require any lithium battery device to travel in the cabin, not the hold, because a device that switches itself on down there is a fire hazard nobody can reach. The Flow makes the pre-flight part easy, since the side oven door detaches completely, so empty and wipe the oven before you leave. Its USB-C cable is worth packing too. Anything you put in the oven is a separate matter, particularly across a border.
Is the PAX Flow available for same-day delivery in Vancouver?
It is. Orders placed between 8 AM and 10 PM go out same-day across Greater Vancouver and usually arrive in 45 to 60 minutes. After 10 PM they move to the next day. We ship it across Canada in discreet packaging as well, and at this price a lot of people prefer to handle one in the shop first.
