Most vaporizers pick conduction or convection. The 850 runs both at once, with two separate heaters, each with its own temperature sensor, plus a sensor watching your airflow. The reason that matters is what happens mid draw: pulling air through a chamber normally cools it, and vapour thins out towards the end. Here the convection side compensates while you are actually inhaling.
It handles herb and concentrate as separate modes rather than as a compromise. Herb runs 320°F to 446°F, concentrate runs 428°F to 491°F using the included wax canister, and three clicks switches between them. You set temperature and session length per mode.
Gold and zirconia line the vapour path, so nothing picks up a metallic edge on the way up.

What does having two heaters actually do?
It fixes what happens mid draw. On a normal vaporizer, pulling air through the chamber cools it, so vapour gets thinner towards the end of an inhale. The 850 runs a conduction heater on the chamber and a convection heater on the incoming air at the same time, each with its own sensor, plus a sensor reading your airflow. The convection side compensates while you are drawing, so the last part of a pull is closer to the first.
Is it genuinely good for both herb and concentrate?
Yes, and it treats them as separate modes rather than one compromise setting. Herb runs 320°F to 446°F, concentrate runs 428°F to 491°F with the wax canister that comes in the box, and three clicks of the power button switches between them. Temperature and session length are set per mode, so switching does not mean reconfiguring the device each time.
How is it different from the Utillian 723?
The 723 is convection only, single button, four presets, 2300mAh. The 850 adds the second heater, a full colour LCD, a much larger 5000mAh cell, a proper concentrate mode with its own temperature band, and a water pipe adapter in the box. It is roughly double the price and aimed at someone who wants one device to do both jobs well rather than a herb vaporizer that also takes a canister.
Can I run it through a water pipe?
Yes, and the adapter is included rather than sold separately, which is unusual at this price. Running it through water is worth doing at the top of the herb range and in concentrate mode, where the vapour comes out hottest. The gold and zirconia vapour path already keeps the taste clean, so water filtration is about temperature rather than flavour here.
How do you clean it?
The screens and the magnetic cap come apart, and a multi-tool and brush are in the box for it. Brush the chamber out while it is still warm after a few sessions, and soak the screens and O-rings in isopropyl alcohol periodically, drying them fully before refitting. Keep alcohol away from the gold and zirconia sections of the vapour path and wipe those with a dry swab instead.
