Where the 421 gives you six preset temperatures, the 621 gives you the dial. Anything between 320°F and 428°F, set one degree at a time with plus and minus buttons, with the OLED showing both the temperature you asked for and the temperature it has actually reached.
Heating is convection, and the helix in the vapour path is there to stop the clogging that catches out cheaper herb vapes. It takes 30 to 60 seconds to get to temperature and buzzes three times to tell you.
A wax canister comes in the box. Drop it on top of the chamber and the 621 handles concentrate as well, which is unusual on a device pitched primarily at dry herb.
The 2300mAh battery runs about an hour of continuous use. Charging is USB-C at 1.8 amps, so it refills in around 90 minutes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a bubbler with the Utillian 621?
Yes. The Utillian Glass Bubbler is designed to fit it and adds water filtration, which takes the edge off the higher end of the temperature range. It is sold separately rather than included. Fill it just above the downstem and no further, otherwise you will pull water through into the mouthpiece.
What changed from the Utillian 620?
The battery is the same 2300mAh cell, but the 621 moved to USB-C charging at 1.8 amps, so it refills considerably faster than the 620 did over micro USB. The convection helix and the single degree temperature control carry through. If you already run a 620, the charging is the practical difference rather than the vapour.
Does it really work with concentrates?
It does, with the wax canister that comes in the box. You load the canister, sit it on top of the heating chamber and run the device as normal. It is a genuine capability rather than a gimmick, but set expectations: a dedicated wax device like the Utillian 6 will give you denser, more flavourful concentrate vapour. The canister is for occasional use, not as a replacement for a dab pen.
How is convection different from the conduction on the 421?
Convection pulls hot air through the herb rather than heating it against the chamber wall. In practice that means more even extraction, less need to stir the bowl mid-session, and less of the toasted taste conduction produces when it runs hot. It also reaches temperature faster. It is the main reason the 621 costs more than the 421.
How do you clean it?
Two brushes come in the box for a reason: one for the chamber and one for the air path. Brush the chamber out after each few sessions while it is still warm, and run the air path brush through weekly. The helix is there to resist clogging, but it still needs the occasional pass. Screens can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol and dried before refitting.
