The Nestor is easy to mis-read as a plain cart battery, and it is not one. It ships with Yocan's QTZI coil and a pick tool, which makes it a dab pen you load with concentrate directly. The 510 thread means it will also drive a standard cartridge if you want it to, so it does both jobs, but the coil in the box tells you what Yocan built it for.
The QTZI coil is the part worth understanding. Instead of quartz rods standing in the middle of the chamber, it uses a flat heating element that covers the bottom and carries up the walls. Concentrate that runs down the sides meets a hot surface rather than pooling out of reach, so more of what you load gets used.
The body is zinc alloy, which gives it some heft without much weight, and the mouthpiece is magnetic with a rubber tip, so it pulls off for loading rather than unscrewing.
Voltage runs from 2.5 to 4.2 volts, a narrower and warmer range than the cart batteries in this line-up, which suits concentrate: below about 2.5 volts wax does not vaporize properly anyway. It charges over USB-C in around an hour and a half, and a cable is in the box.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a cart battery or a dab pen?
Both, but it is sold as a dab pen. It comes with a QTZI concentrate coil and a pick tool for loading wax directly, which is what Yocan designed it around. Because the connection is a standard 510 thread it will also run an ordinary cartridge if you screw one on. If you only ever use carts, a cheaper cart battery will serve you better.
What is different about the QTZI coil?
Most wax coils are quartz rods standing in the middle of the chamber, so concentrate that runs down the sides sits away from the heat. The QTZI uses a flat element that covers the base and continues up the walls, so the whole cup is a heating surface. In practice less is left stuck around the edge and more of what you load is actually vaporized.
Why does the voltage start at 2.5 rather than 1.8?
Because it is built for concentrate, not thin distillate. Wax needs more heat than cartridge oil to vaporize at all, so anything below about 2.5 volts would simply warm it without producing vapour. The cart batteries in the Yocan range start at 1.8 volts because thin oils genuinely run there. The narrower range here is suited to its job.
Does it come with a charging cable?
Yes. The box has the pen, a pick tool for loading concentrate, a Type-C cable and the manual. That makes it one of only two Yocan 510 devices we stock that includes a cable, the other being the Dubb. The rest of the range ships as the device alone, which we flag on each of those pages.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the chamber with a cotton swab while it is still slightly warm, when residue lifts most easily. Do not soak the coil or run it under water. The magnetic mouthpiece pulls straight off, so you can get at the chamber properly without unscrewing anything. When output falls off on a full battery or the taste turns burnt, the coil is spent rather than dirty.
