Most cart batteries this size give you three preset power levels marked by a coloured light, and you learn which colour you like. The B-Smart has a dial at the base instead, running from 2.0 to 4.0 V in tenths, so you set an actual number and can move it by a single step when a cartridge runs slightly too hot or too cool. That is unusual at this size and price, and it is the reason to pick this one.
Lower voltage favours flavour and makes a cartridge last longer; higher voltage gives you a warmer, thicker draw and gets through it faster. Somewhere around 2.8 to 3.2 V suits most 1 ohm cartridges as a starting point. A double click runs a ten second preheat, which is worth using on a thick oil or on a cold day, when the first pull otherwise comes through thin.
At 320 mAh it is a light user's battery rather than an all-day one, and at 86 mm by 11 mm it carries like a pen.
One thing to know before you order: it charges from a 510 threaded charger and Yocan do not include one. It does not charge over USB at all, so a spare phone cable will not do, and we do not currently stock a charger that fits it.

Does the Yocan B-Smart come with a charger?
No. Yocan ship the battery on its own, and this one matters more than usual because the B-Smart takes a 510 threaded charger and does not support USB charging at all. A spare phone cable will not work. We do not currently stock a charger that fits it, so you will need one before the battery goes flat.
What voltage should I set it to?
Start around 2.8 to 3.0 V with a standard 1 ohm cartridge and adjust from there. Lower settings give you more flavour and make a cartridge last longer. Higher settings give a warmer, thicker draw and use it up faster. The dial moves in tenths of a volt, so you can correct a cartridge that runs slightly hot without overshooting.
How is this different from a three-setting cart battery?
Most pens this size give you three preset levels shown by a coloured light, and you pick whichever you prefer. The B-Smart has a dial at the base running from 2.0 to 4.0 V in tenths, so you set a real number instead of choosing between three. It is the main thing you are paying for at this price.
What is the preheat for?
Thick oil goes stiff when it is cold, and a stiff cartridge does not draw properly, so the first pull comes through thin or not at all. Double clicking the button runs a gentle ten second warm-up that loosens the oil before you take a real draw. It is genuinely useful in winter and mostly unnecessary in a warm room.
How long does a 320 mAh battery last?
That is a small cell, so treat this as a light user's battery rather than an all-day one. How long it lasts depends heavily on the voltage you run: at 2.5 V a charge goes a long way, and at 4.0 V it will not. If you are a heavy user, a larger battery will suit you better than topping this one up repeatedly.
