The Kodo has always been Yocan's smallest cart battery, and the Star is the version where the front of it became a screen. Rather than a small readout in a corner, the display fills the face and shows the voltage you have set, the battery level and a session timer, with an animated effect behind it that Yocan call Galactic.
Underneath the light show it is a proper battery. Voltage adjusts up to 4.2 volts in tenth of a volt steps, which is control you normally only get on something twice this size. At 57 by 23 by 18.5 mm it is genuinely small, closer to a car key than a pen, and it disappears into a pocket with a cartridge fitted.
Charging is fast for the capacity, about forty-eight minutes over USB-C for the 400 mAh cell.
The trade you are making is runtime. Four hundred milliamp hours in a device this small is respectable, but it is a battery you will charge often if you use a cartridge regularly. Take it for what it is good at, which is being the smallest thing you can carry that still lets you set an exact voltage.
As with most of the Yocan 510 range, it arrives as the device alone and no USB-C cable is supplied.

Frequently asked questions
How small is it, really?
57 mm long, 23 mm wide and 18.5 mm thick, so it sits in a closed hand and is closer to a car key fob than a pen. With a cartridge screwed on it is still small enough to forget about in a jacket pocket. That size is the whole reason to choose it over an ARI or a Flat, which are longer and more obviously a vape.
What does the display actually tell me?
The voltage you have set, how much battery is left and a timer for the session, across the full front face rather than a small corner readout. The animated background is decoration. The useful part is that on a device this small you can still read the exact voltage at a glance, which most batteries this size cannot manage.
How long does 400 mAh last in a device this size?
Less than a day of steady use, realistically. It is a small cell and there is no way around that. What softens it is the charge time: about forty-eight minutes from flat over USB-C, so a short top-up gets you going again. If you want to charge less often, the ARI 2.0 Plus or Flat 2.0 Plus hold 900 mAh in a larger body.
Is a cable in the box?
No, and this catches people out. Yocan ship the Kodo Star as the device only, with no USB-C cable and no accessories. It charges from any standard USB-C cable so it is easily sorted, but there is nothing in the box to do it with. We flag this on every Yocan 510 battery we stock that arrives this way.
Does it have a preheat function?
Yes. With the battery switched on, double-click the button (both clicks within about a second) and it runs a preheat at 1.8 volts for 10 seconds, with 1.8V shown on the screen while it works. That low, steady warmth loosens a thick or cold cartridge so it draws properly instead of clogging. After the preheat you set your normal voltage, which goes up to 4.2 volts in tenth of a volt steps.
Do you deliver the Kodo Star same-day in Vancouver?
Yes. Orders from 8 AM through to 10 PM are delivered the same day across Greater Vancouver, with most arriving within 45 to 60 minutes. Order after 10 PM and it will go out the next day. We also post Canada-wide in discreet packaging, and it is stocked for pickup at our Commercial Drive shop.
