The Flat 2.0 exists because round cart batteries roll. It is the same idea as the ARI underneath, with the same 1.8 to 4.2 volt control in tenth of a volt steps and the same OLED screen, but the body is a 14 mm square rather than a cylinder. It lies flat on a table, sits flat in a pocket and does not work its way to the edge of a surface while you are not looking.
The chassis is stainless steel, which is unusual at this size and price and gives it a bit of weight in the hand rather than feeling hollow.
The Mini is the 400 mAh version, 80 mm long. Yocan also build the Flat 2.0 at 650 and 900 mAh; we stock this and the 900 mAh Plus. The electronics do not change between them, only how long you go between charges.
You get a ten second preheat for cartridges that have gone thick, a puff counter and battery readout on the screen, and an automatic shutdown after an hour of sitting idle. Charging is USB-C.
Worth knowing before it arrives: there is no USB-C cable in the box. Yocan ship the Flat 2.0 as the battery alone, so you will need a cable you already own.

Frequently asked questions
What is the point of a flat battery?
It does not roll. A cylindrical cart battery put down on any surface that is not perfectly level will find its way to the edge, and the cartridge on top makes it top-heavy into the bargain. A square 14 mm body lies flat and stays where you put it. It also sits better in a pocket, lying along your leg rather than pressing into it.
Is a cable included?
No. Yocan ship the Flat 2.0 as the battery on its own, with no USB-C cable in the box. It charges from any standard USB-C cable, so it is not hard to solve, but you should have one ready for when it arrives. This is true of most of the Yocan 510 batteries we carry and we flag it on each of their pages.
Flat 2.0 Mini or Flat 2.0 Plus?
Capacity only. The Mini is 400 mAh, the Plus is 900 mAh, and the controls, screen, preheat and charging are identical. Pick the Mini if you want the smallest thing that will do the job and you can charge daily. Pick the Plus if you would rather not think about charging, and accept a slightly larger body for it.
Why is it stainless steel?
Most batteries at this size use painted aluminium or plastic to keep weight and cost down. Stainless steel is heavier and harder to mark, so the Flat feels more solid in the hand and survives being carried around with keys rather better. It is a small thing, but it is the reason this one tends to still look presentable after a few months.
How do I set the voltage?
The screen shows the current setting and you adjust it in 0.1 volt steps anywhere between 1.8 and 4.2. Start a new cartridge low, around 2.5 volts, then work up until the draw is where you want it. Going straight to the top is the usual cause of a burnt taste, and once you have scorched a cart's wick there is no getting it back.
Can I get this delivered today in Vancouver?
Yes. Orders between 8 AM and 10 PM go out same-day throughout Greater Vancouver, and most reach you inside 45 to 60 minutes. Anything ordered past 10 PM goes the next day instead. We also send them Canada-wide in plain packaging, and they are available to pick up in person at our Commercial Drive location.
