Most cart batteries at this size give you three voltages and a button. The ARI 2.0 Mini gives you the whole range from 1.8 to 4.2 volts in tenth of a volt steps, and an OLED screen to see what you have chosen. That matters because cartridges differ: a thin distillate runs well low, a thicker one needs more, and a fixed three-step battery usually lands you either side of what the cart actually wants.

The screen also carries a puff counter and the battery level, so you are not guessing how much charge is left. The counter runs to 9,999 and then starts again.

At 400 mAh this is the small one in the ARI 2.0 range, 14 mm across and 80 mm long, which is about the size of a marker pen. It charges over USB-C in roughly an hour. If you want the same electronics with more than twice the capacity, the ARI 2.0 Plus is 900 mAh in a slightly larger body.

There is a ten second preheat at 1.8 volts for cartridges that have thickened in the cold, a fifteen second safety cut-off on the button, and the battery switches itself off after an hour of inactivity.

One thing to know before it arrives: Yocan ship this as the device only. There is no USB-C cable in the box.

Frequently asked questions

Does a USB-C cable come with it?

No. Yocan ship the ARI 2.0 Mini as the device on its own, with no cable and no accessories in the box. Any standard USB-C cable will charge it, so if you already own a phone or laptop cable you are fine. We mention it here because it is a genuine surprise otherwise, and we would rather you knew before it arrived than after.

Why would I want adjustable voltage instead of three settings?

Because cartridges are not all the same. A thin distillate vaporizes well at low voltage and tastes burnt if you push it. A thicker or older cart needs more power to move at all. Three fixed steps usually land you just above or just below what a particular cartridge wants. Tenth of a volt control means you can find the right setting and stay there.

What voltage should I start a new cartridge at?

Start low, somewhere around 2.5 to 2.8 volts, and take a short draw. If the vapour is thin, go up a step at a time. Running too high is what produces that harsh, burnt taste and it can scorch the cart's own wick, which cannot be undone. It is always easier to add power than to recover a cartridge you have cooked.

What is the difference between the Mini and the ARI 2.0 Plus?

Capacity and size, not features. Both have the same 1.8 to 4.2 V control, the same OLED screen, preheat and puff counter. The Mini is 400 mAh at 14 x 80 mm. The Plus is 900 mAh, more than twice the charge, in a 17 x 97 mm body. If you refill a cart every few days the Mini is fine; if you are out all day, take the Plus.

Why does the puff counter go back to zero?

It rolls over once it reaches 9,999 and starts counting again. It is there to give you a rough sense of your own usage over time rather than to be an exact lifetime total. Most people use it to judge how far through a cartridge they are, since a cart tends to give a fairly consistent number of draws before it starts tasting weak.

How soon could an ARI 2.0 Mini reach me in Greater Vancouver?

Order between 8 AM and 10 PM and it goes out for same-day delivery anywhere in Greater Vancouver, usually landing within 45 to 60 minutes. Orders placed after 10 PM are dispatched the following day. We ship across Canada in discreet packaging as well, and you are welcome to collect it from the Commercial Drive store.
