The Basic Kit is the PAX 3 with the essentials and nothing else. You get the device, a screen fitted, both mouthpieces, the standard oven lid, a cleaning kit and the charger. What you do not get is the concentrate insert, the multi-tool or the half pack lid, which are the three things that separate this from the Complete Kit.
That matters more than it sounds, because the concentrate insert is what makes a PAX 3 a dual use device. Without it this is a flower vaporizer. The insert is sold separately and it fits, so the Basic Kit is a perfectly sensible way in if you only vape flower, or if you want to add the insert later once you know you will use it.
The device is the same either way. Conduction heating, an oven that takes 0.35 to 0.5 g of ground herb, ready in about 22 seconds, and four preset temperatures at 360, 380, 400 and 420°F that you cycle through by holding the mouthpiece down. The part people actually buy it for is Bluetooth: pair it to the app and you can set any temperature in that band rather than accepting one of the four, and you get control over the LED and the standby behaviour too.
Lip sensing wakes it when you put your mouth on it and a motion sensor drops it to standby when you set it down, which is where the battery life comes from. PAX back it with a ten year limited warranty.

What is the difference between the PAX 3 Basic Kit and the Complete Kit?
The device is identical. The Complete Kit adds four things: the concentrate insert, three extra screens, the PAX multi-tool and the half-pack oven lid. The Basic Kit gives you the device, a fitted screen, both mouthpieces, the standard oven lid, a cleaning kit and the charger. If you only vape flower and do not mind buying a multi-tool later, the Basic Kit covers you.
Can I use concentrates with the Basic Kit?
Not as it comes, because the concentrate insert is the part that makes that possible and it is not in this kit. The insert is sold separately, it fits the PAX 3, and we stock it. It seals a small amount of wax into a metal cup that loads from underneath so nothing runs down into the device. Buying the Basic Kit plus the insert is a reasonable route if you are unsure you will use it.
Do I need the app to use a PAX 3?
No. Four preset temperatures are built into the device and you cycle them by holding the mouthpiece down, so it works fully on its own. The app adds the ability to set any temperature within the range rather than picking one of four, plus control over the LED and standby behaviour. Most people pair it once, find a number they like, and rarely open it again.
How much herb does the oven hold?
PAX put it at 0.35 to 0.5 g of ground material. Pack it firmly, because conduction heats by contact and a loose pack gives a thin draw. If that is more than you want in one go, the half-pack oven lid drops it to roughly 0.17 to 0.25 g and fills the empty space so the smaller load still sits against the oven floor properly.
Is the PAX 3 allowed on a plane?
Carry it in the cabin, not in a checked bag. Transport Canada treat any vaporizer as a lithium battery device, and those have to stay where a problem can be dealt with. Brush the oven out before you travel so there is nothing loose in it, and pack the magnetic charging cable with the device rather than in another bag, since a PAX will not charge off a generic cable when you land.
Can you deliver a PAX 3 in Vancouver today?
Yes. Order between 8 AM and 10 PM and it goes out same-day across Greater Vancouver, usually arriving within 45 to 60 minutes. Anything after 10 PM ships the following day.
