The Iris sits between a simple three-voltage wax pen and something like the Black Pocket. You get an OLED screen and plus and minus buttons to set voltage anywhere from 2.5 to 4.2 volts, rather than cycling three presets, which means you can tune it to a particular concentrate and stay there.
It runs a QTZ quartz coil on a standard 510 thread. Quartz transfers heat quickly and has no cold spots across the cup, so a load vaporizes evenly rather than from one point outwards.
There are two ways to use it. On-demand means you hold the button as normal. Auto mode fires when you draw, with no button at all, which is the more relaxed way to use it once you have your voltage set. It shuts itself down after half an hour idle.
The body is aluminium alloy at 95 by 43 by 28 mm, so it is flat and pocket-sized rather than pen-shaped, and the mouthpiece is magnetic, so it pulls off for loading and cleaning. Charging is USB-C at 5 V/1 A, reaching full in about an hour and a half, and a cable is in the box along with a spare-free installed coil and a dab tool.

Frequently asked questions
What is auto mode?
The pen fires when you inhale, with no button press at all. Once you have set the voltage you want, it behaves much like a disposable: put it to your mouth and draw. On-demand mode is the traditional hold-the-button approach and gives you more precise control over how long the coil runs. Both are available and you switch between them.
Why does the voltage start at 2.5 rather than lower?
Because it is a concentrate device. Wax needs meaningful heat before it vaporizes at all, so anything much below 2.5 volts would warm the load without producing vapour. Cart batteries like the ARI start at 1.8 volts because thin distillate genuinely runs that low. The Iris's range is matched to what it is actually designed to heat.
Where should I set the voltage?
Start near the bottom, around 2.8 to 3.0 volts, and take a draw. Lower settings favour flavour and terpenes and make a load last longer. Higher settings up towards 4.2 give a denser, warmer draw and clear the cup faster. Because the screen shows the exact number, once you find what a concentrate likes you can come straight back to it.
What does the magnetic mouthpiece change?
It pulls straight off instead of unscrewing, which matters because the mouthpiece is what you remove every time you load the coil. On a wax device your hands and the part are both usually a little sticky, and threading is the fiddliest moment of the process. It also makes cleaning the chamber properly much less of a chore.
Why does it turn itself off?
There is an automatic shutdown after half an hour of sitting idle. It is a battery protection rather than a fault, and it stops a pen in a bag from being woken up by a pressed button and running the coil dry. Switching it back on is the usual five clicks. Your voltage setting is not lost when it powers down.
