This is the XS platform in a limited edition finish, made with Khalifa Kush Enterprises. Mechanically it is the same nano rig: a quartz chamber with the temperature sensor built into the heating element, four settings at 475, 525, 575 and 625°F, 9 to 12 seconds to heat and a 20 second hold. If you have read about the standard XS, nothing about how it works has changed.
What you are paying the difference for is the finish. Dr. Dabber call this release Heatwave, and the name is literal: the rig wears a rubberised thermochromic fabric that shifts from matte black to sunflower yellow as it warms, and the matching shoulder bag does the same. The warmth of your hands is enough to start it moving, and a dab takes it the rest of the way. It is a collector's finish rather than a performance feature, but unlike most special editions it actually does something you can watch.
Everything else follows the XS. Spill-proof glassware means it survives being carried, the carb cap comes on a leash so it stays with the device, and a filling funnel is included because loading a chamber this size without one is fiddly. A charge runs about 30 to 35 heating cycles and refills over USB-C, with pass-through supported. The five minute auto shut-off is the same short fuse the standard XS has.
Limited edition runs do not come back once they are gone, and replacement parts for it are ordinary XS parts, so servicing it long term is not a problem.

What changes is the outside: a thermochromic fabric finish instead of the plain XS colourways, plus the matching shoulder bag. Anyone telling you it hits differently is describing the finish.
Does the Khalifa Kush XS really change colour?
It does, and so does the bag. Dr. Dabber call the release Heatwave because the rubberised fabric on both the rig and its matching shoulder bag shifts from matte black to sunflower yellow as it warms. Holding it is often enough to start the change, and taking a dab will carry it further. It reverses as the device cools back down.
Do standard XS replacement parts fit this one?
They do, and that is the practical reason not to worry about buying a limited edition. The eChamber, the spill-proof glass attachment, the carb cap with its seal and leash and the filling funnel are all ordinary XS parts. We stock them here. A limited run means limited devices, not limited servicing.
Can I take the Khalifa Kush XS on a flight?
Yes, in the cabin. Transport Canada require lithium battery devices in carry-on rather than checked baggage, since one waking up in the hold cannot be dealt with. Empty the water from the glass before you fly. Worth expecting on this edition specifically: the thermochromic finish reacts to warmth, so it may shift colour in a warm bag or a sunny window, which is the material behaving normally rather than a fault.
Should I buy this or the regular XS Nano?
If the colour-changing finish and the bag matter to you, this one. If they do not, the standard XS gives you identical performance for less money and there is no functional argument for spending the difference. The one thing that separates them beyond looks is availability, since a limited edition stops being restockable once the run ends.
