The Switch 2 is a desktop rig rather than something you carry, at nine inches tall and a little over a pound and a half. It heats by induction, and the thing that separates it from the first Switch is an infrared sensor that reads the temperature of the quartz insert itself. The original worked from fixed settings and an estimate. This one measures, so the number you set is close to the number your concentrate actually meets, anywhere from 250 to 650°F.
The insert grew as well. It is 20 mm, which Dr. Dabber puts at roughly 300 percent of the original cup's volume, so a full dab sits in the bottom instead of creeping up the walls. Induction heats it from every side at once rather than from a single contact point underneath, which is why the last pull of a cycle tends to resemble the first instead of tasting scorched.
Three heating modes do the rest. Descent starts at your temperature and drops a degree a second as you draw, which is the closest thing here to a torch and a banger cooling off. Ascent runs the other way, opening cool for flavour and building toward the finish. Steady simply holds. The app handles temperature profiles, hold times, session times and the lighting, so the modes are a starting point rather than a fixed menu.
Heat-up takes 5 to 20 seconds depending on where you set it, a charge covers around 30 cycles, and the electrical components carry a two year warranty.

What do the three heating modes actually do?
Descent starts at your set temperature and drops one degree per second while you draw, which imitates a banger cooling after the torch comes off. Ascent does the opposite, opening cool to catch the terpenes and climbing through the hold. Steady holds one temperature and adjusts output to your inhale. Most owners keep Descent for daily use and save Ascent for concentrate worth tasting slowly.
What size insert does the Switch 2 use, and can I use an original Switch cup?
It uses a 20 mm quartz insert, and no, the original Switch's ceramic induction cups do not fit. The two generations use different parts, which trips people up because the accessories look related. A sapphire insert is sold as an upgrade over the standard quartz one. We stock Switch 2 glass but not inserts at the moment, so ask us before you assume a cup on this site fits this rig.
How many dabs does the Switch 2 do per charge?
Dr. Dabber rates it at up to 30 heating cycles on a single charge, and a full charge takes 60 to 90 minutes over USB-C. Higher temperatures pull that number down, as does leaving it heating while you get organised. It supports pass-through charging, so plugging it in mid-session keeps it running rather than parking it.
Do I need the app to use the Switch 2?
No. The device runs on its own with the modes and temperatures available from the controls. The app adds custom temperature profiles, hold times, session times and the LED themes, so it turns the three preset modes into something you shape yourself. Plenty of people pair it once, build a curve they like, and rarely open it again after that.
How do I clean the Switch 2 insert and glass?
Let it cool, lift the quartz insert out and soak it in isopropyl alcohol until the residue releases, then rinse and dry it fully before it goes back in the well. The glass attachment gets the same treatment. Keep alcohol away from the induction well itself and wipe that with a dry swab instead. Cleaning it while it is still warm is the fastest way to crack quartz.
Is the Switch 2 available for delivery in Vancouver?
