The concentrate insert is the piece worth understanding. It is a small metal cup with a lid that holds roughly a lentil of wax and drops into the same oven the flower goes in, so nothing runs loose inside the device. It turns a flower vaporizer into one that does both without changing anything else about how you use it. Bought on its own afterwards it is a meaningful chunk of the price gap between the two kits.
The half-pack lid is the other one people underrate. The oven takes 0.35 to 0.5 g, which is a lot for one person, and the lid fills the empty space so a 0.17 to 0.25 g load still packs against the oven floor instead of rattling around and drawing thin.

Is the Complete Kit worth the extra over the Basic Kit?
It depends on one thing: whether you will use concentrate. The Complete Kit adds the concentrate insert, the multi-tool, the half-pack oven lid and three spare screens. Bought separately afterwards those add up to more than the gap between the kits, so if you know you want concentrate use, this is the cheaper route. If you are flower only, the Basic Kit is the honest answer.
How does the concentrate insert work?
It is a small metal cup with a lid that takes about a lentil-sized amount of wax. You load it, close it, and drop it into the same oven your flower would go in, so the concentrate never touches the oven walls and cannot run down into the device. Run it on the highest setting. Cleaning is a matter of lifting the cup out and wiping it while it is still warm.
What does the half-pack oven lid actually do?
It fills the unused space above a smaller load. The oven takes 0.35 to 0.5 g, and if you only put 0.2 g in there the material sits loose and the draw goes thin, because conduction needs contact with the oven floor. The half-pack lid presses a 0.17 to 0.25 g load down into place so a solo session works properly instead of wasting half the oven.
Can I fly with the PAX 3 Complete Kit?
The device travels in your carry-on, since lithium battery devices are not permitted in checked baggage. The kit brings a specific nuisance: the concentrate insert and the half-pack lid are small loose metal parts, and a tray full of them at security invites questions you would rather not field. Keep them in the case together. Empty the oven before you go, and take the magnetic charger in the same bag.
Which spare parts should I keep on hand?
Screens, first. They clog and a clogged screen is the usual reason a PAX starts drawing badly, which is why this kit ships with three spares. After that, a maintenance kit for the pipe cleaners and brush, and mouthpieces since they are the part that gets lost.
