The Utillian 6 uses a glass bucket chamber heated from below, which is closer to how a proper dab rig works than the coil-in-a-cup arrangement most pens use. Ruby terp pearls come in the box and sit in the bucket, rolling as you draw so the concentrate keeps moving instead of puddling and scorching on one side.
Four heat levels each cover a band rather than a single number: 455°F to 482°F at the bottom for terpenes, up through to 536°F to 563°F at the top when you want volume. It reaches temperature in 15 to 30 seconds.
The extended mouthpiece is the other reason to pick this over a shorter pen. A stainless steel tube runs through the middle so vapour never touches the silicone, and the extra distance gives it time to shed heat before it reaches you.

What are the ruby pearls for?
They agitate the concentrate. A pearl sits in the glass bucket and rolls around as you draw, which keeps the wax moving over the hot surface instead of sitting in one spot. The practical result is that more of your load actually vaporizes and less of it bakes onto the bottom of the bucket. Two come in the box, and they are also the reason the chamber needs less scraping.
How is the glass bucket different from a normal coil chamber?
Most wax pens wrap a coil around or under a ceramic cup, so the concentrate touches the heating element. The Utillian 6 heats a glass bucket from underneath, so your concentrate only ever touches glass. That is closer to how a quartz banger on a dab rig works, and it is why the flavour is cleaner. It also means residue wipes out of glass rather than baking onto a coil.
Can I replace the heating element?
Yes, the chamber is a replaceable part and Utillian sells it separately, which matters because the chamber is the wear item on a device like this rather than the battery. Worth knowing before you buy: Utillian covers wear-and-tear parts including the heating chamber for a shorter period than the device itself, so treat the chamber as a consumable.
Why does it come with an extended mouthpiece?
Vapour off a bucket chamber at the top two heat settings comes out hot. The extended mouthpiece gives it more distance to cool before it reaches you, and a stainless steel tube runs through the centre so the vapour never touches the silicone on the way. If you mostly run the lower two settings you will notice the difference less.
How do you clean it, and what if the draw goes tight?
A tight draw on this pen almost always means concentrate has run past the glass bucket and into the airway. Let it cool, lift the bucket out and soak it in isopropyl, then run a swab down the mouthpiece channel where the residue actually collects. The ruby pearls come out and soak with the bucket. Do not soak the battery. If the bucket has been cooked repeatedly it will stop tasting clean whatever you do, and it is a replaceable part.
