The Proxy is the odd one in Puffco's lineup, and that is deliberate. The heating element lives in a small base that slides into a glass pipe, so the device is not locked into one shape. Swap the glass and you change what it is, from a pocket pipe to something closer to a countertop rig.
Inside the base is a 3D ceramic chamber that heats from the side walls rather than only the bottom, so the load works evenly instead of scorching underneath. It reaches temperature in about 30 seconds. Four presets sit at about 505°F, 520°F, 545°F and 565°F, shown as blue, green, red and white, and boost mode lets you push the heat partway through if a session is running cool.
The 1350mAh battery covers roughly 15 sessions and takes about 90 minutes to fill over USB-C. There is no app on this generation. Everything happens on the device, and it sleeps on its own when you put it down.

Frequently asked questions
What are the four heat settings on the Proxy?
Blue sits at roughly 505°F and gives the most flavour with the least vapour. Green is about 520°F and is the everyday balance. Red is around 545°F for a stronger draw, and white is about 565°F for maximum vapour. Puffco publishes these as approximate rather than exact, because the chamber runs a range rather than holding one number. Start on blue with a fresh load and step up as it depletes.
Will Proxy glass from other kits fit this one?
Yes. The whole point of the Proxy is that the base drops into an ecosystem of glass, so pipes, bubblers and third-party attachments made for the Proxy all work with it. That includes the newer generation's glass. The one thing that does not swap between generations is the chamber itself, so keep the chamber that came with your base.
Does the original Proxy work with the Puffco app?
No. This generation has no Bluetooth, and everything is controlled with the button on the base and read off the LED. If app control matters to you, that arrived with the New Proxy, which pairs over Bluetooth and opens temperature control from 400°F to 644°F in five degree steps. On this one, the four presets are what you get.
Can I fly with the Puffco Proxy?
Yes, in your carry-on, because lithium battery devices cannot go in the hold. The Proxy is easier to pack than most rigs for one reason: the base lifts out of the glass. Separate them and wrap the glass on its own, and the fragile half is protected. Clean the chamber before you leave. Anything you carry in it is a separate question, and never one to take across a border.
How do you clean the Proxy chamber?
Let it cool to warm rather than cold, then swab the ceramic chamber out with a cotton bud. Isopropyl alcohol on a swab lifts what is left. The glass pipe can be soaked separately in alcohol and rinsed thoroughly. Cleaning while it is still slightly warm is far easier than letting residue harden, and it keeps the flavour from going stale.
How quickly can I get a Puffco Proxy in Vancouver?
Order between 8 AM and 10 PM and we deliver across Greater Vancouver the same day, often in 45 to 60 minutes. Orders after 10 PM go out the next day. We also ship Canada-wide in plain packaging.
