The second Proxy keeps the format and changes the parts that limited the first one. The battery moves from 1350mAh to 1680mAh, about 30 percent more capacity, and that shows up as denser hits rather than just longer runtime. Puffco puts it at roughly 20 sessions at 475°F, though a dozen is more realistic if you sit on the hotter settings.
The chamber is around 30 percent taller than the original's. That depth is there to stop splashback, the common complaint about the first Proxy. It is also the one part that does not swap between generations, so an old chamber will not seat in this base and this one will not fit an old base.
Everything else in the Proxy ecosystem still fits, including glass you already own. The new glass stands upright instead of lying flat and has a frosted finish for grip. Bluetooth adds the Puffco app, where temperature runs 400°F to 644°F in five degree steps. On the device the four presets sit at about 490°F, 510°F, 530°F and 545°F, cooler than the original Proxy’s.

What is actually different between this and the original Proxy?
Three things. The battery goes from 1350mAh to 1680mAh, about 30 percent more capacity, which shows up as denser hits rather than only longer runtime. The chamber is roughly 30 percent taller, which is there to cut down splashback. And it pairs with the Puffco app over Bluetooth, which the original cannot do. The form factor and the glass ecosystem are unchanged.
Will my existing Proxy glass fit?
Yes. All the original Proxy glass, bubblers and attachments work with this base, which is unusual for a second-generation device and deliberate on Puffco's part. The new glass stands upright rather than lying flat and has a frosted finish for grip, but you are not forced to rebuy anything you already own.
Will my old Proxy chamber fit this one?
No, and this is the one exception. The chamber is the only part that does not carry across generations. The new chamber is deeper, so an original chamber will not seat properly in this base, and this chamber will not seat in an original. Order the matching chamber when you need a replacement rather than assuming your spares work.
What does the Puffco app add?
It opens up temperature control from 400°F to 644°F in five degree steps, rather than leaving you with the four on-device presets, and it lets you set session length and adjust boost. If you dab the same concentrate regularly and want to dial in one temperature and stay there, that is what the app is for. The device works perfectly well without ever pairing it.
Can the New Proxy travel with me by air?
Keep it in your carry-on. Checked baggage is not permitted for lithium battery devices, and that covers every vaporizer. Take the base out of the glass and pack the two separately so the glass is not carrying the weight of the electronics. If you use the app, expect Bluetooth to be switched off during parts of the flight, which is a phone matter rather than anything to do with the device.
