The IR sensor is new; the original Switch estimated temperature from the coil, while the Switch 2 measures the cup directly. Next, the quartz insert grew to 20 mm, which Dr Dabber puts at 300 percent more capacity than the original’s cup, so you load a full dab without it climbing the walls. And the app arrived: Bluetooth pairing lets you build custom heating curves instead of choosing from fixed presets. The battery also stretches to around 50 heating cycles on a charge, up from what the first version managed. If you already own the original and it still runs well, the upgrade case rests on the sensor and the app. Anyone buying a first rig has no reason to look at the older one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWhy induction changes the hit\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA coil heats from one side. Induction heats the insert from every direction at once, which is what “omnidirectional” means on the spec sheet, and it is the reason the Switch 2 produces the same cloud on the first pull and the last. There is no hot spot at the bottom of the cup and no cold edge where oil pools and burns late.
